Gardening in Mijas: hot summers inland
Inland Mijas gets hotter in summer than the coast, and terraced gardens dry out quickly. Olive and carob trees cope very well with the heat, but lawns and flower beds need a good irrigation system. Larger plots on the hillside should be cleared of dry grass before the summer.
