Lawns in a warm climate
Most lawns on the coast use warm-climate grasses such as kikuyu, Bermuda grass (grama), St. Augustine or zoysia. They love the heat but grow fast in summer and spread into beds. Some gardens have cool-season grass, which looks greener in winter but struggles in July and August.
Each type needs a different mowing height, feeding and watering. We look at your lawn and treat it the way it needs.
Our lawn care work
Regular mowing and neat edges make the biggest difference. On top of that, a few treatments a year keep the lawn thick and healthy.
- Mowing and edging
- Scarifying: raking out dead grass and moss
- Aerating: making small holes so water and air reach the roots
- Fertilising at the right time of year
- Weed control
- Re-seeding bare patches or laying new turf
Watering through the summer
A lawn is the thirstiest part of most gardens. In summer we adjust the watering so the grass gets enough water early in the morning, without waste. Spring and autumn are the best times for scarifying, re-seeding and new turf.
With water restrictions in dry years, a big lawn can be hard to keep. We can advise on drought-tolerant grasses, or on replacing part of the lawn with gravel and low-water plants.
Artificial grass cleaning
Artificial grass is popular on terraces and in holiday homes. It still needs care: leaves, dust and pet hair build up, and the fibres get flattened. We clean and brush it so it looks fresh again.
